Size Charts

Please be sure to measure yourself carefully - items will not be eligible for return once cut to your size & colour specifications - read Terms & Conditions prior to purchase.
Please also bear in mind when ordering ~ If you give 'wishful' measurements rather than actual measurements, your clothing may not fit properly!
When measuring hold the tape measure firmly but not pulled tight.  Please give actual measurements in inches, ease will be added to jackets & coats so please do not add this yourself.

Measuring guide Ladies
  • #1 - Bust : taken from fullest part at chest wearing a 'pushup' bra or Regency undergarments.
  • #2 - Empire waist/under-bust  : taken from directly beneath bust.
  • #3 - Shoulders : taken from shoulder point to shoulder point across back.
  • #4 - Upper body : taken vertically from shoulder/collar bone,  down over bust to empire waist.
  • #5 - Length : actual measurement taken vertically from directly under-bust to ground.  1 inch will then be omitted to prevent  your gown dragging along the floor.
  • #6 - Arm length : taken from top of shoulder point to wrist.
  • #7 - waist ; taken from the smallest part of the natural waistline.    
  • #8- Arm width : taken around biscep at widest point of upper arm.

Most of the menus allow for Bust, Under-bust, Sleeve & Length options, If you prefer to add extra measurements such as shoulder width & bicep etc, please send your measurements via email to Sales@MarionMay.co.uk after purchase.

Measuring guide Gentlemen

  • For shirts - select size according to neck width.
  • For jackets - select size according to actual chest width

  • For trousers - select size according to actual waist width - Regency trousers have an approximate rise of 12".
  • For breeches - select size according to actual waist measurement.  Inside leg measurement is taken to desired length (directly below knee).  Calf width is taken directly below the knee to correspond with the inside leg measurement length.  Breeches have an approximate rise of 12".
  • Cloaks & Long coats - select size according to actual chest measurement over a shirt & waistcoat & jacket if required.  Length is taken from waistline to anklebone your item is then given a 2-3 inch hem to sit just below the calf.
